Announcement of Clinical Director Appointment

We are excited to announce the appointment of Mātanga Tapuhi (Nurse Practitioner), Kate Smallman to the role of Clinical Director.   Kate will be providing guidance to the Board and team, along with clinical and technical oversight.  She will also be heavily involved in research, strategy and professional leadership.  We are very proud of Kate, who has worked with the Foundation since 2000. Kate has carved out a career pathway starting as a Registered Nurse, working through to Nurse Specialist, Nurse Prescriber, and now Nurse Practitioner.  Kate is always ready to use her own knowledge and experience to bring others with her and we look forward to continuing to support her absolute commitment to helping people with or at risk of diabetes, and also her drive to further the development of the Nursing profession, particularly in the community.

Previous similar roles within the Foundation have been held by

  • Dr David Scott - Honorary Medical Director

  • Dr Tom Robinson - Medical Director

  • Dr Faye Clark - GP Liaison/Medical Contractor (2010-2013)

  • Professor Rinki Murphy - Honorary Medical Director (2019-2021)
