Introducing our newest Board members

We have two new Board members.    We are delighted to welcome Kate Vennell and Pat Spellman to the Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa Board of Trustees.  Both very busy and accomplished people, there are brief Bio's below:

Pat describes his driving interest in serving as a Trustee and being "It’s simple really. To prevent Māori and Pacific Whanau across Aotearoa having to live a life affected diabetes".   He brings a wealth of marketing, communications and social media and web management skills as well as Governance and advisory experience having  served as a Board Member for the Tauranga Māori Business Association, Counties Manukau Touch Association (currently Vice President) and has supported various other NFP and community groups, especially with comms, marketing and strategy creation.  (Update 2022 - resigned - see here)

Kate in her roles as a Director over the past 11 years has committed to raising governance practice on boards she has served on, encouraging a focus on the long term and delivery of clear social outcomes, supported by sustainable business models. With a strong background in finance and strategy and deep experience in financial services, Kate has specific expertise in transformation and culture change and is committed to supporting organisations to deliver improved outcomes for New Zealanders.
