Presentation of funds raised to Christchurch Diabetes Team

Kate and Karen started their quest to raise funds for the team at Christchurch Diabetes service after being affected by hearing about the devastating experiences in the Christchurch earthquake of February 2011.   Finally, two years later, the cheque has been handed over after things taking a bit longer than expected, including having the cancellation of the first Ironman back in 2012 and many other challenges.  Of course, none of the challenges compared remotely to what our colleagues and their patients and families in Christchurch has been facing, there's a little about that here.

Kate has now attended the Diabetes nurse Symposium in Christchurch where she presented a 5 minute presentation on what the Ironman was all about and then handed over a cheque for the $1500 the wonderful supporters had donated. The Diabetes team are planning to spend it on something special. Thanks from the Diabetes Projects Trust team to everyone who donated. We were really glad we could do something to show our colleagues and friends down in Christchurch that others care.
