Introducing the new Team Leader for Gardens4Health

After a recruitment process starting way back in December 2023, interviews were finally held in January for the Gardens4Health team leader position.  We were privileged to meet some truly amazing people doing really great things out in the community. Our thanks to all of them for sharing their stories and experiences with us.

As a result of the process, we are delighted to introduce Ali Nicholls.  Ali is an enthusiastic permaculture gardener, tutor, and designer with a work background in community services, education, social research, and team leadership.

Ali says "Kia ora e te whanau! My name is Ali, and I'm honoured to be following in Richard's gumboot prints as the new Gardens4Health Team Lead. I whakapapa to Staffordshire in the UK where my extended family lives, but moved to Tāmaki Makaurau when I was six with my dad, mum, and brother. I now live in Avondale with my partner, mates, and pets. When I'm not rummaging around in the māra you can find me checking out some live music at one of our treasured venues, at The Hollywood watching a classic 80s flick, or at home with a cat on my lap. Looking forward to seeing you out in the vege patch soon! "

We are sure you'll join us in welcoming Ali to the Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa and Gardens4Health whanau.  Call the office on 09 273 9650 or email Ali at gardens4health@diabetesfoundationaotearoa.nz to make contact, and you'll see some of what she's up to on the gardens4health Facebook page as we go along.
