Working in Public Health it's well known that there is never just one issue or condition or complication or factor that impacts living a healthy life. While diabetes is the main focus of the mahi done by Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa, we acknowledge that there are other areas requiring urgent attention in our communities. Our Board member Gerhard Sundborn works and does research in a number of important areas in addition to diabetes. He has just announced a symposium looking at results of studies into a relationship between rheumatic heart disease and scabies. Rheumatic heart disease has huge and lifelong effects on those young people who contract it. The symposium is on Friday 23 February at University of Auckland, School of Population Health in Grafton. For more information and to register to attend email g.sundborn@auckland.ac.nz
