Well done and thanks to everyone who was part of a fun gardening morning at Sarah Selwyn Retirement home. Much enjoyment had by all, and a great contribution to the prospect of healthy, homegrown food onsite later in the year. The ladies and one gent wore their fancy hats for a garden party, Gardens4Health style while they were served tea and coffee outdoors.
In the garden, new soil and sheep pellets were added to provide the best possible growing conditions and Kylie demonstrated planting perennials such as Thyme. After that went in winter brassicas, Bok choy, cabbage and kale, all great options for ease of management during the colder months, and delicious and healthy produce to come. To top things off, a yellow pansy was added for colour and visual appeal which is another important part of gardening, beautifying the environment! As part of the demonstration, everyone had the chance to admire beautiful ripe kamo kamo and gourds in the sunshine.
