Wow, another fantastic conference, this year held in Napier. We had two posters and three presentations either by our team or relating to our mahi which was a great showing for our small organisation.
Most important though was the opportunity to work with and network with other people, old friends and new friends as well as catching up on the latest news nationally and from other providers and health services.
In terms of our mahi, first up, congratulations to Kanchana Perera on a successful poster and an oral presentation relating to her PhD, it was also exciting to get notification while we were away that she had a brand new paper accepted for publication. Kate Smallman had a presentation on the bariatric youth project, and Karen Pickering had a collaborative poster on the 2025 pilot workplace survey with MHT Diabetes Trust, Diabetes Christchurch and Diabetes Wellington (see here). Dahai Yuh came over from the UK to do a presentation on findings using the DCSS Audit data, fantastic to see the ongoing research coming out of that important and unique dataset. Our Board member Ruby McGill attended to support our work on behalf of the BOT. We were also delighted that our Patron, Professor David Simmons was present. Congratulations to all presenters, authors and those who provided support to get posters and presentations to our national conference for diabetes. And congratulations to Kate for finding accommodation with enough stairs to ensure we all maintained excellent fitness while away!
